Combining the latest high definition audio technologies from Denon’s renowned line of versatile A/V receivers along with our exclusive center-mounted Blu-ray disc player drive mechanism, the S-5BD provides superlative performance and unparalleled ease of use. The audio section is packed with the latest high definition surround sound decoders, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Setup is a breeze thanks to automatic configuration via Audyssey MultEQ room acoustic measurement and correction system, which detects the quantity and type of speakers, and provides precise tailoring of critical audio parameters for pristine sound quality (measurement microphone included). Audyssey Dynamic EQ provides rich tonal balance at all volume levels, and Audyssey Dynamic Volume smoothes out jarring volume peaks, such as TV commercial interruptions. The elegant front panel features dual side wing doors, which open to reveal convenient connections, including one HDMI input, an SD memory card slot, and a USB port for direct iPod connection. When closed, the wings conceal wires for a clean, elegant look. The Blu-ray player incorporates the latest features, including BD-Live support via the Ethernet port, and the S-5BD features support for Denon’s versatile iPod docks, including the ASD-51N and ASD-51W.

 

5-Channel Equal Power

5-Channel Equal Power connects 5 speakers independently without requiring separate power amps for the pre-outs. It complements Dolby Digital EX and dts ES sound modes, allowing you to connect the 'surround back' speaker straight off the main amplifier without adding a power amplifier to support 5.1 surround formats. With built-in separate internal amplifiers to power each channel independently, this feature allows you to enjoy the same high power output capability per channel, giving a balanced and truly high-impact surround-sound environment.

 

AL24 Processing

AL24 Processing is a newly developed technology that reduces quantization distortion and represents the ultimate analog waveform reproduction that is designed to support the higher numbers of bits and higher sampling rate of next-generation media. It senses the nature of the digital data being input and interpolates the data so that it faithfully replicates the original analog waveform.

 

ASD-1R

The Denon ASD-1R (and the newer ASD-11R released in 2008) is a convenient iPod docking station compatible with this Denon component. Charging, iPod control, and playback of audio and video content is possible, and is dependent on each device's capabilities.

 

Audyssey Dynamic Volume

Audyssey Dynamic Volume solves the problem of large variations in volume level between television programs, commercials, and between the soft and loud passages of movies.

 

Audyssey MultEQ

Room acoustic measuring and correction system analyzes (via the included microphone)  the audio characteristics of your speaker system and your listening environment at up to 6 measurement points and automatically tailors the sound for top audio fidelity.

 

Auto Setup

The Auto Set-Up feature eases setup hassles by confirming speaker phase, assessing the sizes of all of your speakers, measuring speaker-to-listener distances, and balancing speaker levels. With the Denon DM-A405 or DM-S205 placed in your favorite listening seat, this feature uses a test tone generator and proprietary programming to precisely balance speaker levels and fine-tune the delay settings for each speaker. The result is optimized system performance for your specific home theater room.
