Pioneer's exclusive Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration system (MCACC) provides a near studio-quality, multi-channel listening experience customized specifically to your listening environment. An included microphone measures every speaker's connection, and notes its size, distance from the listening point, sound levels and timbre to calibrate and maximize performance. The VSX-1020-K has an advanced version of MCACC that will calibrate with a 9-band equalizer, auto-crossover settings, and can even send charts of its measurements to your PC via USB.

Even compressed audio such as WMA, MP3 and AAC is enhanced with another Pioneer exclusive, Advanced Sound Retriever, by filling in areas where minute details were left out during the compression process. This technology also enhances the audio quality of SIRIUS Satellite Radio and can realize an upper limit frequency of 20kHz with compressed audio playback for surprising audio richness and clarity even from "lossy" digital audio sources. The VSX-1020-K's advanced ASR can restore even multi-channel audio.

Additionally, the Auto Level Control feature can equalize volume level differences between tracks playing from an iPhone or iPod or during television programming so the volume can be enjoyed at a consistent level--no more jarring "blare" when switching audio sources.

The vertical airflow path for convection has been carefully designed for minimum airflow resistance or turbulence for maximum cooling efficiency.

In extreme conditions a speed controlled near-silent fan gradually becomes active, drawing colder air from the front of the unit and providing forced cooling.

Cambridge Audio’s highly-respected amplifier topology goes to new levels of performance and refinement with the introduction of the 550A. A completely redesigned output stage helps improve bass response and dynamics even further while enabling control of virtually any speaker with aplomb.

Making the 550A a true benchmark in its category was of course a key requirement to Cambridge Audio’s design team.

One area which has received considerable attention is the company’s proprietary CAP5 protection system. Maintaining the original design’s raison d'être – constantly monitoring for overloads, faults and clipping whilst guaranteeing no sound degradation – this new iteration now allows for even greater dynamics and more powerful real-world performance. And like its highly respected predecessors, the 550A features an oversize toroidal transformer for excellent efficiency and extremely low noise.

Arcam’s enviable reputation for high performance AV products has been built over many years. Its engineering expertise, ingenuity and of course experience all come together in its products which are among the best in the world for music and movies. When designing power amplifiers for home cinema there are many conflicting requirements. They must be powerful but run cool. Their sound quality must be consistent from the softest whisper to the loudest explosion. Arcam believes they should also excel with both movies and music. With this in mind, Arcam set about creating the P1000 power amplifier, a perfect match for the new AVP700 AV processor.
To deliver a clean but dynamic sound field, the P1000 uses seven precisely matched channel modules to ensure consistency of sound from whatever direction it comes. With a rated power of 135wpc into 8 ohms, the P1000 is able to drive and control even the most difficult of speakers and it does this without breaking a sweat! Recognising the need for cool running technology, the P1000 uses an innovative rail switching power amplifier design driven by a huge toroidal transformer based power supply. All components are specified to audiophile tolerances to ensure the world-class sound quality Arcam’s customers have come to expect. A 12-volt control input allows remote power up and down of the amplifier to aid custom installations.
